Planner 5D

Hello Designers!
Hope you’re having an amazing week so far 🙂
I decided to share on Thursdays a little something extra; Apps and Plug Ins that come in handy. I’ll add as much details about them as possible: try them, post the results, and talk about the process that led to that final result.
This week it’s an iPad app that I used to design a kitchen.. yes, again.. don’t ask.
I made this kitchen as a trial on that nifty app on my iPad Mini, while brainstorming with a client, and guess what?! I didn’t have to use my laptop for that project at all. The screen shots were enough to get thru to her and show her what I had in mind (Along with some samples and swatches, of course), she gave me the OK right then and there, and we got to work on it.
This app is super convenient and is a huge time saver if you want to draft a hassle free concept; if you want Photo Realistic Renders you have to pay per a number of shots and they’re a bit pricey ($0.49 to $0.24 per shot).

Later on I found out that you can visit their website and work there too; by creating an account the models you make are uploaded for you to access everywhere (I have an android phone and it works there too!)

Here is what they have to say on their website:

“Create home design projects of various types and difficulty levels

Design houses, flats, offices, country-houses, cafes, bars, your dream houses, just anything in 2D or 3D modes.
Use the tool online or download the apps for iOS, Android or OS X and start creating your dream house.

Get inspiration from our ideas library or users’ home design templates from users gallery and create your own home design.
Visualise your home project and publish on social networks or our interior design gallery.

Sounds pretty neat, huh?

The process of actually starting a model is pretty simple and straight forward. They offer tutorials and easy-to-find pointers on the process; where to find what, how to edit this or that, and so on.

Hope you give it a try and let me know what you think 🙂

  • App: Planner 5D (Available on iTunes and Google Play for free, but if you want more blocks “catalogs” you have to buy them.)

There’s no harm in going simple from time to time 🙂

Happy Designing!
